Sometimes momma's need advice.

I don't think that people understand that being a stay at home mom is so much more then just staying at home with your little one(s). We are a 24/hour 7/day a week teacher to them. They watch everything we do. For instance, I call my husband anything but his name, and on this blog...some things I shouldn't, but around the house it is mostly "baby" or "babe." It is just a habit...believe me I don't do it in public. Well anyway, sometimes we forget that Xavier is this sponge and picking up anything and everything. We were laying in bed just the other night and Andrew was trying to go to sleep and Xavier goes over to him and goes "dada...daddy" and pokes him. Andrew didn't even open his eyes and says "what you want X" Xavier goes "you okay babe?" We fell out laughing. It was sooo funny. Okay, maybe you had to be there, but anyway it just goes to show that they are always listening.

That brings me to my next topic. I know there are some mommys on here that read my blog and they don't have to worry about money. I am not one of those moms. Don't get me wrong, we are by far poor...but we are tight on a budget. When I worked and Andrew worked...before we had a child we never had to worry about money, but now with one income, we do. It is a big change for me, but I am getting used to it. Especially with me being in school now, we are tight. I do plan to start selling Party Lite at the beginning of next year, but we have about 6 more months until then. Well, my question is, how do you parents and especially moms deal with money struggles without letting your little ones notice. I worry about money all the time. I do not want it to show though. My parents were always worried about money when I was young, but it wasn't until I was older that I found out all the struggles they had...they hid it from me. I commend them from doing a good job at this because I do not think any kid should have to know of adult troubles. I just wish I could wake up with no money worries...but then again, I am sure having a lot of money causes problems too...but I think I would rather take those worries...wouldn't you? lol.

This is a hard one! While you want to keep stress away from a child if it is unneeded, I feel like handeling money is also a learning experience for them. Of course age 2 doesn't require a lesson in money management. HA! I guess the best way to keep the stress away from them is just not talk about money when they are around???

Oh sheesh- I don't know. We are having some serious money troubles right now. I balance the budget when my little one is napping, and all fights,er... I mean- discussions about money are after his bedtime.
I imagine it will be more difficult as he gets older.

Too cute that he picks up on that! Kids ARE like sponges - and (for me at least) especially about things you wish they wouldn't be!

I don't know what to tell you about the money stress - I'm currently unemployed and desperate for work. Wishing I knew how to get a decent job & not have to pay for child care. Mine is only 3 - and we don't talk much about money in front of him - other than when he asks for something I do tell him we don't have the money for it - and prizes are special and not for every day.

Love your site. Saw you on Scary Mommy's site and stopped by..and joined!

I try not to worry my guys about our money woes, but I think a healthy respect for the almighty dollar should be learned early on.
Our 5 yr old twins have learned that it is a treat, but a monetary sacrifice, to go to a movie, play mini golf, take vacation, eat out, etc. And that they must earn the right (thru good behavior) to go because Dad has to work extra hard to pay for fun things they should appreciate.
But we would never utter a word if we were struggling to pay the electric bill or put food on the table! Mac-n-cheese party everynight is what I say!!

Oh, and if I had too much money? Well......I just can't imagine.
